It looks beatifully serene out there. Travelling in the shuttle from the airport at Heraklion, along the coastal highways carved out of the volcanic rocks, the place that comes to mind is gran canaria. The sky is pale blue to the left of us over the sea, whilst cumulus clouds hang overhead to the right over the hilly mounds that line our route. The greenery is lush from a distance, but up close the shrubs appear more hardy. Like desert plants that retain as much moisture as possible, The rock beside the road, Jesus rocks, overhanging and jagged, the clouds…

golden nugget las vegas
Nov 2011 29

I’ve been looking forward to this trip for ages, dreams of breaking the bank and coming home with a million dollars. How you do that I don’t know since you’re only allowed to take $10,000 out of the country, but since there were five of us travelling, I guess spreading it around the group would have halped ease some of the customs worries. Still we were on our way to the infamous Las Vegas strip to enjoy a 4 night 5 day stay in one of the city’s biggest and brightest hotels the Venetian. The idea of the place conjours…

Spot Of Golf0

Posted In London

After not feeling too hot over the weekend, I am back to winning ways again thanks to some rest, water and lemons. I find 30 degrees in the City is too hot, especially because it’s so built up. It’s fine if you’re in the country or by a beach but in a a concrete jungle it’s a little oppressive. Was looking for the thunderstorms Monday, Tuesday as they predicted but although we had rain overnight I didn’t hear any thunder and didn’t see any lightening. Still if you’re lucky enough to have a day off work when the weather is…

note pad to create a list
Jan 2011 31

This is a little gem of a idea, it’s not new, been around for donkeys years, but the simplicity with which just doing this really small thing, keeping a list, can change so much you may rue the opportunities missed before you took up the practice

telephone receiver
Jan 2011 12

Since today is traditionally my play day, the project I thought of today is called “I hate my telephone voice” (working title). It is for people who run solo or small businesses who are vocally challenged when it comes to the phone who want to project a voice that matches their brand values. It will provide work for voice over artists and out of work actors and even vocalists and will be an invaluable service for those who need it. Let me know if you want to play a role in getting this play project on the go. Remember don’t…

Career Moves how many steps
Jan 2011 06

Careers is what I am talking about today. Had a conversation with a few mates last week about how many careers you can have in your lifetime. I reckon anyone is quite justified in having at least three. Of course this can depend on how much you enjoy what you do, but if you don’t and you fancy a change, how many times can you switch lanes before you end up losing out on earnings (due to starting again), promotions, position etc? Things are changing in the world of work and more and more people are trying to follow their…

How to become a writer
Jan 2011 04

A few years ago, I decided to indulge myself and went back to college for a year and did a course in Journalism. It was a part time evening course, once or twice per week, which I enrolled upon really to satisfy my curiosity about the world of news reporting. I enjoyed it thoroughly and although I did not do it for the purpose of changing my career, I did learn much about the skill of writing news and crafting engaging copy that others would be compelled to read. Writing is now something I enjoy from the comfort of my…
